Santiao Chiao (Sandiao Cape) Lighthouse, Gongliao, Taiwan

The Santiao Chiao Lighthhouse was constructed in 1935 and sits on the northeast cape and easternmost point of Taiwan about 53 km east of Taipei. It is a 16.5 metre tall reinforced concrete tower with a gallery. It originally had a kerosene lamp which was replaced with electric in 1942. During WWII it suffered damage but was restored and relit in 1946 and remains active. Around the site are a number of concrete sculptures and it is a very popular tourist spot.
