Plum Island Lighthouse, Plum Island, New York
Located on Plum Island, New York off of Long Island, this lighthouse which resembles a schoolhouse can be seen from the New London to Long Island Ferry. This light was established in 1827 and rebuilt in 1870. It has been decommissioned since 1978. This photo was taken from the ferry in 2004.
Someone asked me, "What is it you love about lighthouses?'
I guess it is because seeking out lighthouses as a hobby combines so many things that I enjoy: travel, the sea, being outdoors, photography and history.
So, having a lighthouse blog, allows me to share my love of lighthouses with others. Each post will be about a different lighthouse that I have visited and have photographed over the years. I hope you enjoy. I have also started a bird blog for the birds I have photographed (August 1, 2013).
