Langeliniekaj Light, Copenhagen, Denmark

This light is located at the end of Langelinie Quay in Copenhagen, Denmark just North of one of the cruise ship moorages. It is a popular stopping point on a sunny day as depicted in one of my photos. It is only a short walk North from the famous 'Little Mermaid' sculpture. There is also a view across the water of the Trekroner Fort and Lighthouse. Photos were taken in May 2009.

Trekroner Lighthouse, Copenhagen, Denmark

This light is located in a 19th century fort on an island at the North approach to Copenhagen. The current light was established in 1926. Photos taken in May 2009.

Kronborg Castle Light, Helsingor, Denmark

This light is located in one of the towers of the famous Kronborg Castle, Elsinore. It is located at the seaward approach to the Oresund Sound (North of Copenhagen). The castle was built in the 1500's but the light was not established in the tower until 1772. In 1842 the first Fresnel lens in Denmark was installed in this light. The castle is the setting of Shakespeare's Hamlet. In the photo taken in May 2009, the light is the second tower from the left.

Fidra Island Lighthouse, Scotland

The Fidra Island Lighthouse, established in 1885 sits on Fidra Island near North Berwick, Scotland (east of Edinburgh). The island is a bird sanctuary. Photo taken in May 2009.

Stroma Island Lighthouse, Scotland

The Stroma Island Lighthouse (Swilkie Point) is on Stroma Island at the most Northerly tip of Scotland. The light was established in 1896 to warn ships of the dangerous whirlpool currents of the Swilkie. Photos taken in May 2009. In one of the photos, the Duncansby Head lighthouse can be seen in the distance.

Inchkeith Lighthouse, Edinburgh, Scotland

This beautiful lighthouse sit on an island in the Firth of Forth, Northeast of Edinburgh, Scotland. It was built in 1804. Unfortunately I only have a fairly distant view taken in May 2009.

Inch Garvey Light, Queensferry, Scotland

This light was established in 1886 on a rock in the Firth of Forth on the South side of the channel. It is between North and South Queensferry and now sits under the Forth Railway Bridge (North West of Edinburgh, Scotland) which was built in 1890. Photos taken in May 2009.

Oxcars Light, Edinburgh, Scotland

This light, established in 1886 sits in the Firth of Forth, North of Edinburgh, Scotland on the South side of the main channel. Photos were taken in May 2009.

Newhaven East Pier Light, Leith, Scotland

Established in 1876 this light is situated on the entrance to Newhaven harbour in Leith, Scotland (Edinburgh area). Photos taken in May 2009.

Water of Leith, Leith, Scotland

This light has been relocated to the riverwalk area on the Water of Leith, Leith, Scotland. It is believed it was moved here during the redevelopment of the area in the 1990's. According to the Lighthouse Directory, it was formerly the Burntisland East Breakwater Light circa 1876. Photos taken in May 2009.

Leith West Pier Lighthouse, Leith, Scotland

Believed to have been established in 1828 this lighthouse is now abandoned and unfortunately has been vandalized. It is located in Leith, Scotland (Edinburgh port area). The area around it is being extensively redeveloped and perhaps the developers will refurbish it as part of the development. Photo taken in May 2009.

Beamer Rock, Rosyth, Scotland

This light is located on a rock in the Firth of Forth just west of the Forth Road Bridge on the approach to the port of Rosyth, Scotland (north west of Edinburgh, Scotland). It is believed to have been established in 1892. Photos taken in May 2009.

Tallinn Rear Range Light, Tallinn, Estonia

Believed to have been built in 1896, this light sits approximately one kilometer further inland than the Tallinn Front Range Light. It is just off of a busy road and in an older residential neighbourhood. Photos taken in June 2009.

Tallinn Front Range Light, Tallinn, Estonia

This unique light sits on a hillside above a park just east of the downtown area of Tallinn, Estonia. The light is not in the steeple, but rather in the upper part of the main building. It has a weathervane with the year 1839 on same. Believed to have gone into operation in 1839. Photos taken in June 2009.

Rampside Light, Rampside, England

This unique light is on the shore at Rampside, England just south of Barrow In Furness. It is believed to have been built between 1850 and 1870 as one of 13 range lights in the area. It is the only one of these lights remaining. In the bottom photo it is in the distance behind the boat at low tide to show its location. Photos taken in May 2009.

Established in 1804, this light sits at the South tip of Walney Island near Barrow In Furness, on the English West Coast. Photos taken in May 2009.

North Bank Light, Dublin, Ireland

Not far from the North Bull Light is this light which was established in 1882. It is also at the mouth to the River Liffey, Dublin, Ireland and is on the North side of the channel. Photos taken in May 2009.

This light etablished in 1880 sits to the North side of the channel at the enterance to the River Liffey, Dublin, Ireland and directly North of the Poolberg Light. Photos taken in May 2009.

Poolberg Lighthouse, Dublin, Ireland

This light, established in 1820 is located at the end of the Great South Wall in Dublin Harbour. The wall extends out from the mouth of the River Liffey on the south side. Photos taken in May 2009.

North Wall Light, Dublin, Ireland

Built in 1904 this light sits at the end of the North Wall Quay which is on the North side of the River Liffey in Dublin, Ireland. The adjacent quay is operated by P&O. Photos taken in May 2009.
