Yaquina Head Light, Newport, Oregon
This light is located just north of Newport, Oregon. It was first lit in 1873 and replaced the Yaquina Bay Light to the south. This photo, taken in the late 1970's shows the light painted red and white. Currently it is black and white.
Someone asked me, "What is it you love about lighthouses?'
I guess it is because seeking out lighthouses as a hobby combines so many things that I enjoy: travel, the sea, being outdoors, photography and history.
So, having a lighthouse blog, allows me to share my love of lighthouses with others. Each post will be about a different lighthouse that I have visited and have photographed over the years. I hope you enjoy. I have also started a bird blog for the birds I have photographed (August 1, 2013).
I've been here Neal... you've got a great Blog - very interesting!!! Man... you guys travel a lot!!
