Daska Lighthouse, Dubrovnik, Croatia
The Daska Lighthouse sits on the small island, Otocic Daska, which is West of the port area of Dubrovnik, Croatia. A lighthouse was established here in 1876, but the date of construction of this light is not known. The lighthouse appears to be inactive as there is no lamp in the tower. A smaller beacon on a concrete post sits near the water in front of the old lighthouse. Photos taken in September 2011.
Someone asked me, "What is it you love about lighthouses?'
I guess it is because seeking out lighthouses as a hobby combines so many things that I enjoy: travel, the sea, being outdoors, photography and history.
So, having a lighthouse blog, allows me to share my love of lighthouses with others. Each post will be about a different lighthouse that I have visited and have photographed over the years. I hope you enjoy. I have also started a bird blog for the birds I have photographed (August 1, 2013).
