Grand Turk Lighthouse, Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos

The Grand Turk Lighthouse sits at the northern tip of the island of Grand Turk in the Turks and Caicos in the Caribbean. The sixty foot tall cast iron light was constructed in England and then shipped to Grand Turk where it was assembled in 1852.  The light was automated in 1972 and was reactivated in 1998. Photos taken in March 2014.

  1. Look where you are now! Lovely colors in these photos. Odd to think of a lighthouse being shipped but then...

  2. Grand Turk is a pretty small island, so they would not be able to manufacture something like this, hence it is built elsewhere and shipped to them. It is a very laid back island, a place where one would go to just sit on the beach and contemplate life. Thanks for your nice comment. Cheers, Neal
