The Los Angeles Harbour Lighthouse, also known as Angel's Gate Lighthouse sits on a long breakwater that extends over 2 km out from the Cabrillo Beach Jetty in San Pedro California. It is at the entrance to the Port of Los Angeles. The lighthouse is active and was built in 1913. It stands 22 metres high (73 ft) and is of steel reinforced concrete construction. The light was originally all white, but the black stripes were added to make it more visible. Originally the lighthouse had a 4th order Fresnel lens, however that was replaced in 1987 with a modern beacon. The original lens can be found in the Los Angeles Maritime Museum. A campaign by the Cabrillo Beach Boosters resulted in the lighthouse being restored in 2012.
