Malaga Lighthouse (La Farola), Malaga, Spain

The Malaga Lighthouse, known locally as La Farola, is located at the east side of the harbour in Malaga, Spain. It sits at the base of a long breakwater that leads out to the port's cruise terminal. The light, one of the oldest in Spain dates to 1817. It is a two story keeper's house with a large round masonry tower rising from the centre. The tower is 121' tall. This lighthouse was damaged on two occasions and had to be extensively repaired. The first was an earthquake in 1898 and the light was not completely repaired until 1913. The second was damage caused by artillery during the Spanish Civil War in the 1930's and it was repaired by 1939. Photos were taken in October 2016.
